Our trip to Gettysburg was wet, as we figured. We learned that a large garbage bags slipped over the bottom of a sleeping bag can add needed warmth if you bring a summer bag on a late Fall trip and that our scouts have a great “can-do” spirit – wanting to challenge the wet, cold and very windy conditions and stay-over Sat. night. But NOAA’s high winds advisory chased T179 and all other troops at Camp Conawego home Sat night. While in Gburg, we witness Generals Lee and Grant riding horseback holding up each others hands in mutual respect while leading Union and Confederate armies thought the streets of Gettysburg. We timed our trip for the weekend of the 154th anniversary of Lincoln’s delivery of the Gettysburg Address. Very moving.
